Every home needs a quiet, cozy, corner to enjoy a book, cup of coffee or tea and just take a deep breath. Here are some tips to help you take advantage of an unused corner and turn it into a quiet little space to relax.
Natural Light
Start by finding an unused spot near a window or door that lets in natural light. A little vitamin D is always a mood booster.
Comfortable Seating
Now you’ll need a comfy chair and ottoman or chaise that lets you lean back a bit and put your feet up.
Temperature Control
It is difficult to feel comfortable if you’re feeling chilly. So it’s a good idea to keep a soft blanket near by. It will serve a dual purpose and also make your corner feel more inviting. I love to use a graphic windowpane check or herringbone pattern to add a subtle masculine touch.
Task Lighting
You’ll want to make sure you bring in a floor lamp, table lamp or even install a wall sconce for lighting in the evenings. Having a custom shade made with a coordinating fabric is one of my favorite ways to make a space stand out and feel pulled together.
Small Surface
You’ll also want just enough surface space to set your book, glass of wine or maybe even some fresh flowers and a candle. It’s the little things after all that make a space special. A small round table or garden stool is perfect!
Could be fall creeping up on us, but these just look so good right now.
